Hi, my name is Steve. After over 40 years in health care administration (30 of those in behavioral health care), my journey as a clinician/therapist/counselor began in 2006. I enjoyed administration, but I very much enjoy the aspect of empowering people to become what they want to become.
As a (Adlerian) therapist, my goal is to en-courage you (literally, to instill the courage in you) to do your best at the tasks that life has set before us: to have meaningful relationships with your work, to be in intimate and loving relationships with other human beings, to be involved in productive and rewarding ways in the community around you, and to determine your relationship with the "universe" (whatever definition and meaning that might have for you.)
Life is about "becoming," and while we can't change difficult situations in the present, past, or future, in this moment we can view those situations differently, we can determine what we can change and what we can deal with, and we can literally find ourselves making things different. By utilizing therapy approaches and techniques that complement each other, you will begin to understand both the healthy and the ineffective aspects of your lifestyle that may be both helping you succeed and/or holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life; you can then make some choices and exercise the courage to make the changes you want to make.
If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.
